Artist Statement

The stilts were placed close to the exhibition door, as if someone had left them there in order to roam through the space. There was no performance accompanying the sculpture, leaving the viewer free to  imagine how it could feel if the stilts were actually used.

As sculptural extensions of the body, the stilts elevate and broaden the wearer, creating an imposing effect while transforming posture and presence. This heightened position can foster confidence and power, yet it also introduces instability and risk, as the stilts may harm the wearer themselves. Ultimately, the objects function as an armor that separates rather than connects, preventing closeness with those who remain grounded and open in their vulnerability and shared humanity.
